When a south southwest swell comes in, the surf here is fast, intense and the ride can last up to 2 minutes. Red Bull filmed Robby Naish surfing a wave for 2 minutes 15 seconds and going over 1 km! It has been coined this in terms of length, height, speed and swell.
Ziplining

Horseback riding

Pavones has plenty of activities to offer. Due to its location being out at sea and Sports fishing is very popular. Canopy tours in the area and horseback riding through the rainforest and onto the beach are also favourites.

Transport to the area
The most time efficient and economical way to get there is:
Fly San José -> Puerto Jiménez (50 minutes) Boat across Golfo Dulce (45 minutes)
Fly San José -> Golfito (50 minutes) then taxi ride (2 hours)
Drive: 8 hour direct drive without stops, rainy season restricts the routes due to high running rivers becoming unpassable.
There is an airstrip Punta Banco (Tiskita de Osa) Airport however it currently only opens for private charters. The flight takes 1 hour and 15 minutes from San Jose airports.
